The room itself was okay, and the stay wasn’t really that bad. The problem was the old heating, which made a drilling-like noise all night. Someone tried to fix it, but it kept making noise. Also, the stairs are steep, so be ready for a climb.

The room was spacious and warm, with a lovely canal view, and there’s service around the clock. I’d stayed in Amsterdam three times before, and this has been my favourite place so far. I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews, but the stay pleasantly surprised me. The stairs are steep and the room lighting could be better, though. Still, it’s a good place to stay when visiting Amsterdam, and I’d really recommend it.

The location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. I’ve stayed here around three times because it’s convenient, and booking at the last minute has always been straightforward. I never had a check-in problem with the staff, even with everything handled through an intercom and ring camera system. My latest visit was a different story. Around midnight on the first night, my friend and I came back talking quietly and not disturbing anyone. The staff member watching the entrance shouted at us rudely and aggressively. I didn’t get his name. The same thing happened the next night, which made the whole situation even more unpleasant. The rooms are in poor shape, outdated, cold, and generally uncomfortable. The walls are so thin that conversations and other noise from nearby rooms carry through, making it hard to relax. With the condition of the rooms and the way that staff member behaved, this was a disappointing stay.

A clean, minimalist place with a nice view, and one of the most efficient hotels around. There’s no reception desk, but people are available on camera to help. The cleaning staff were very nice. Watch out for the steep stairs.
