We couldn't travel or check in because the airspace in Dubai unexpectedly closed, which was completely outside our control. Even after I explained what happened, neither the hotel nor Booking.com would help us rebook or offer any kind of refund. There was no flexibility or effort to sort it out. I'm very disappointed, especially in a force majeure situation. I booked through Booking.com, where I've been a loyal customer for years and regularly arrange accommodation for my clients.

A practical option if you just need somewhere to sleep, especially for a quick or budget-friendly trip. The rooms are clean and cover the basics, and the staff are polite and helpful. It does feel dated, and the location is outside the city center, so you'll need public transport. Breakfast is decent, though a little pricey for what's offered. It's fine for a simple stay, but less suited to anyone after more comfort or a scenic Amsterdam setting.

The room was dusty, the bed quality was poor, and sound carried through the walls. The location wasn't very strategic either. At check-in, the receptionist said the agent's quoted booking price wasn't valid and charged us a higher rate without breakfast. She insisted the price was wrong, so we had to pay, and she was extremely rude. After taking payment, she refused to give us an official receipt. We eventually spoke with her manager over the next few days, and that issue was resolved. This was an unpleasant stay at Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Amstel in the Netherlands, and I definitely wouldn't book it again if I travel to Amsterdam.

The hotel itself was fine, but the front desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. My questions and requests seemed to bother them, which made the stay uncomfortable.
