The rooms were okay, and the location is great, close to the metro. The staff, though, were rude and impolite. They should get training in how to treat customers.

The room was clean, and I appreciated having it serviced every day. Wi-Fi worked well for both work and downtime. My only real drawback was the lack of a refrigerator in the room. It’s about five minutes from the metro and near a lovely park, with the city center around 20 minutes away. The staff were friendly, and the stay was comfortable and convenient. I’d recommend it.

The hotel was clean, breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were friendly. It’s outside the city center, but the metro is very close, so getting around was easy. A simple, comfortable place to come back to after a day exploring Amsterdam.

I was glad the cleaning staff were friendly and did their job well. The room itself was another matter: we had mold in the bathroom, and there was very little privacy, with other guests walking past our window and door. The walls were so thin we could hear whispers from the next room. From the side facing the park, we could see the green trees and hear birds, and the metro nearby goes straight to Central Station, so the location was great. The worst part was reception, especially the person I assume was the manager. I’ve worked in catering and hotel management for a long time and couldn’t imagine a manager speaking to guests that way. It was completely disrespectful and even a bit aggressive. I wish I could forget the experience.

I stayed at Hotel Campanile, Amsterdam, Zuidoost from 15-18 August 2025. On the morning I checked out, I found that both Apple AirPods had been taken from their case. They were tucked inside a bag within another bag in my rucksack. There’s no safe in the room, though the doors seemed pretty secure. I hadn’t used them during the stay because I was at a festival. My Apple account last had contact with them after we asked for pillows to be brought to our room on Saturday 16 August. I reported it to Brayan Cifuentes, who was polite, professional and sympathetic. He asked me to wait while he spoke to the manager, Eric Dasbach. I waited nearly two hours, watching a gentleman go everywhere except toward me, before realizing he was the manager and approaching him myself. Mr Dasbach dismissed me and corrected me that I had “lost my AirPods.” When I asked if he could check with housekeeping and whether there were any new staff members, he said that was none of my business. He spoke in an accusatory, humiliating way, smirking, rolling his eyes and interrupting me. He even suggested I was making up the theft for insurance. I was extremely distressed and upset, and had to ask more than once if he was taking me seriously. After I got home, I emailed the Hotel Group twice before finally hearing from Liesbeth Vans. That response was just as rude. It blamed Mr Dasbach’s unprofessional behavior on a language barrier and suggested I had been rude to him. A look at the CCTV would clear that up. I reported the crime to the police. I’ve since seen online a report from another guest who said their Prada purse was stolen from their room during a July 2025 stay, so this may not be an isolated theft. The hotel wouldn’t even acknowledge that a theft had happened and called the AirPods “lost,” which left me with little hope. I strongly caution other travelers against staying here until the hotel addresses its serious security and management problems. Metro Line M53 is well placed for events at Gaasperplas Park, and hotels along that line should be fine. The trains run well, with one or two still running after the festival ends. Just ask a Steward which station exit to use, and you can enjoy a great atmosphere on the ride back.
