DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station

The hotel’s location is amazing and so convenient, and I love it. The cookie is even better than the one in the USA, bigger and with 200 more calories, which makes it extra delicious! Breakfast was great, and the food and beverage team were outstanding, spoiling us with their kindness and attention to detail. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to come back.

The rooftop bar has an even better view of the canal, which is beautiful to wake up to from the hotel. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes’ walk from practically everything. Our stay was very comfortable, the rooms were a good size and well equipped, and the microwave came in handy while traveling with kids. Reception staff were excellent, helpful, polite, and quick to assist. Housekeeping needs to improve, though: they didn’t do the job as required, so we had to call and ask for things now and then. It’s a great property, and the cookies they offer are absolutely amazing. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

I’d come back for a drink or two, mostly for the rooftop and that incredible view. The drinks are good, but pricey, and my gin and tonic arrived with an almost glass-sized block of ice, which felt a bit ridiculous. I haven’t stayed at the hotel, so I can only speak for Luminear Bar. The service was fine, nothing special. The food let things down: the sushi was underwhelming, and the chicken skewer with sweet-and-sour Asian-style sauce was really greasy. I didn’t think the food was worth it.

We had a good stay and would book again when we return. The staff were lovely and polite, the breakfast had a nice range, and the city and canal views were worth paying extra for. The room did get very hot in the afternoon sun because the air conditioning wouldn’t go below 17°C. Rooftop drinks were extortionately priced. Given how expensive a visit here is in general, I still thought guests might get subsidized drinks or a welcome drink.
