DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam - NDSM Wharf

The neighborhood is interesting to explore, with the STRAAT Museum right nearby, and the staff were incredibly nice. A free ferry just across from the hotel takes you straight to Amsterdam Centrum, which is super convenient. Breakfast was solid, and we slept well on comfortable beds. They’re great for side sleepers, though the twin beds are a bit narrow. One tip: bring a sleep mask, since the curtains don’t quite block the light from the all-glass walls. The A/C is loud and blows onto the beds, but cooling the room during the day and switching it off at night worked perfectly for us. Great stay, and I’d consider returning.

The boat shuttle is right beside this excellently located hotel. My room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was great. It was hard to see into my suitcase once it got dark because the room lighting was quite dim, so I needed my phone torch. I’d also have appreciated a little note explaining that additional water would be charged, since it wasn’t provided free every day. Overall, an excellent hotel.

The view over the pier was lovely, and breakfast was very good with nice staff. There’s plenty of parking around the hotel, but it has to be paid for separately. The rooms are rather small, so I’d recommend bringing a small suitcase. It’s about a 10-minute ferry trip to Central Station on Ferry F4, with departures every 10 minutes between 9am and 6pm on weekends and every 15 minutes on weekdays.

We stayed for one night and barely slept. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable, like sleeping on stones, and they were narrow. The mattress rocked from side to side when we moved, so it felt easy to fall out. Ventilation noise and water leaking from neighboring rooms kept waking us up. There was no fresh air in the room, and it smelled damp. On top of that, staff charged us an extra amount without explaining it or issuing an invoice. The room gets at most one star for comfort, and zero for the attitude. Horrible experience.
