Martin and Nuno were the best part of our stay, warm and professional throughout. I booked four nights through Booking.com and left a fuller review there. If you want to be right in the middle of everything, I’d strongly recommend staying here.

The staff were genuinely friendly and spoke fluent English, which was the one real plus. The room itself was dusty, with a dirty floor, and the paper-thin windows let people shouting outside wake us well past 3 AM. The “private bathroom” wasn’t in the room either, so every time you need it you have to take your key, lock up, and go out to the separate toilet and bathroom. Such a hassle. I booked last minute through a website and hadn’t realized it was right in the middle of the red light district, so that part was on me. Still, for the price it wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting a normal place to sleep.

There was enough room for four beds, but the rest of the stay had a lot of problems. You had to haul your luggage up two steep flights of stairs, with steps that varied in height and length, which felt seriously dangerous. The beds had no bedside tables, and there were no sheets, just a heavy blanket even though it was summer. The room also wasn’t cleaned daily. The sink was tiny, so washing your face or brushing your teeth meant splashing water onto the floor. No soap, shampoo, or conditioner was supplied.

The room was so thin-walled you could hear everything, though I guess that comes with the location. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were just perfect, really welcoming and amazing. You’re right in the middle of Amsterdam’s famous red light district, and for the location, staff, and services, I’d highly recommend it.
