Huygens Place

The staff were pleasant and helpful, and very accommodating. Our room was clean, and it was an amazing stay overall. The AC did break and spray water everywhere, though. One thing to keep in mind if you have knee trouble, there are lots of narrow stairs. I'd stay here again.

It was a clean hotel, and we really enjoyed being there. The room had plenty of space, and the staff were lovely, knowledgeable, and helpful. Most attractions are within a reasonable walk, or you can take the tram. Our one frustration was whoever stayed upstairs. Every time they came and went, they stomped around like a hippo. That was wild, though it wasn't the hotel's fault.

We had a really lovely five-day stay with our family of six. We booked three rooms and were all on the fourth floor. The rooms, including the twins, were a good size and clean, and the breakfast buffet was very tasty. I got hooked on the scrambled eggs. Staff were super friendly to all of us, including my four-year-old. There's also a pleasant patio inside the hotel for sitting around and eating. It's in the museum district, which felt quiet and safe, and very close to Vondelpark. A few things to know: the lift is the tiniest I've ever used, though we never waited long. There are a few steep steps in the fourth-floor hallway to reach some rooms, so watch out if you're carrying bags. The toilets had a slight smell, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. Breakfast was good, but the dining area is small with only a few tables, so booking a time slot ahead is a good idea. I'd consider staying again.

The room was a decent size, the bed was comfortable, and there are plenty of good cafes nearby. It was handy for two tram stops and close to Vondelpark, which is great for running. But there were issues: some very loud noise started up at random, maybe from another room's extractor fan. There's a window right above the bed, so bring an eye mask. Shower water ran out and left the bathroom floor like a lake, and the dispensers had no shower gel or shampoo when we arrived. Getting around means taking lots of steep stairs or a tiny lift. It was okay for a couple of nights, I guess, but the noise and window over the bed weren't ideal.
