The staff were extremely friendly and capable, and the short walk to the centre is why we stayed. But the place was nothing like the advert. My room was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen, with barely enough space to squeeze past the bed between the door and the windows. Breakfast was okay, while cleanliness was only just satisfactory. They made the bed and brought new towels, but didn't clean the bathroom floor. The building smelled strongly of drugs, which I found really disturbing, even though I understand it's legalised in the Netherlands. Noise carried through the halls, and I could hear every guest walking up the stairs from my room. This is nowhere near four-star standard, more like a good youth hostel. I wouldn't recommend it.

The hotel looks beautiful, clean and cosy, and the location is excellent, with a tram stop close by and the city centre within walking distance. Sadly, the service was terrible. One of our two rooms still wasn't ready at 3pm, even though reception knew when we were arriving. We had plans and couldn't wait around. When I asked about checking out an hour later since the room wasn't ready until 4pm, the receptionist said no and that it wasn't her fault, blaming housekeeping. I travel often and have never had a room unready at check-in, or had no notice through the very active WhatsApp. She said she couldn't do anything, even when I asked for a different room that was ready. It was Friday, the hotel wasn't busy, and reception was empty. They offered candies and complimentary drinks, but didn't apologise or ask how our stay was going. Housekeeping was poor too: after we requested cleaning, they left used towels and mugs and didn't even clean the floor. Such a shame given the lovely hotel and great location.

Across from the Artiz zoo, the location worked really well for a few days away, with easy tram connections. We had a lovely stay, and the staff were available whenever we needed something even though renovations were going on. I'd definitely stay here again in Amsterdam.

The clean linens and towels were a plus, and the staff were very helpful and flexible when arranging a room change. We finally got the room type we had booked, which was a little better, but the bathroom still had mold and the curtains and walls weren't clean. We were also disappointed that someone came into our room and threw away two glasses we wanted to take home as souvenirs, even though we hadn't asked for cleaning. We stayed four days, and the photos didn't match what we found. The room looked fine at first, but the bathroom was moldy and almost unusably tiny, the walls were dirty, and the furniture was old and worn. We even felt mild electric shocks through the water while showering, which was concerning. The place has potential, but the cleanliness and maintenance issues and the big gap between the pictures and reality left us very disappointed. I can't recommend this hotel.

We slept well in our quiet basement room, with a comfortable bed and everything we needed, including tea, coffee and a mini fridge. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was great. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. It's a lovely hotel for a short Amsterdam stay, and the location is excellent, just a short walk from the tram.
