NL Hotel District Leidseplein

The location is fantastic, and reception kindly kept our luggage safe for the few hours before our return flight. The stairs are steep, though they're probably among the easiest you'll find in Amsterdam. Still, unless you're a very deep sleeper, I wouldn't recommend staying here. We barely slept during our three nights: from one of the four basement rooms, we could hear every movement above us, conversations from several rooms, and even tell how many people were checking in one morning by their footsteps. Maybe it was just our room. The curtain also had makeup on it when we arrived, which made me question how clean the other facilities were. If you sleep deeply and can manage the stairs, you may do well here.

The location was the main reason we chose this hotel, since we could walk to anywhere in the city. We stayed just two nights for a short Amsterdam weekend, and for what we paid, the quality was absolutely okay. Our room was very clean, and the in-room coffee machine was a definite plus. The room was very small, which is common in Amsterdam, but the online photos didn't really make that clear. That felt less than honest.

The location is really handy for Amsterdam's central hotspots, and they clean the room every day. Staff were friendly and tried to help where they could. Since the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor and our room was on the 4th, they carried our big luggage up for us. The elevator itself is quite an experience, advertised as the slowest in Amsterdam 😅, and it looks like a scene from severance. Our room was on the small side, and the walls seemed like cardboard, since we could hear all the neighbours. As for the mattress, I couldn't tell what it was made of or if it even counted as one. Its layers kept sliding in different directions, so we had to put it back together every night.

The receptionists were super nice, and the room was cleaned well. The location is great, close to Amsterdam's busy nightlife, and for what you pay, it's decent value. The rooms are so small you might have to step outside to turn around. The walls are thin, too. I could hear the more intimate two minutes from the adjacent room as if I were there myself. Good for her, though I felt bad for her partner about how brief it was.
