Prinsenhuis Apartments

There's a coffee machine, microwave, bar-style table, sound system, and printer in the clean, stylishly decorated apartment. It's next to one of the famous canals, so the view is lovely, and the city center and flower market are under a 10-minute walk away. A deli and small supermarket are close too. The staff were very helpful, and check-in was quick and easy. I really liked staying here and will definitely be back.

For the price, the apartment is too worn. Floors are scuffed, paint is missing from the walls, and some walls are dirty. The vases and chairs on the terrace are chipped. Parts of the place weren't clean either, with cigarette butts and ash on the terrace floor, sticky tables and chairs, and mold on the walls. The bathroom lighting is poor and the doors don't close fully. What bothered us most was the manager's dismissive, rude response to our complaints, so we didn't go ahead with our stay.

We booked the Van Gogh Suite on the Prinsenboot, moored in front of the hotel on the Prinsengracht. The suite was very comfortable, and the hotel owner and coworkers were polite. It even has a small balcony, a nice spot to relax at night or have breakfast.

From the apartment it’s an easy walk to Vijzelgracht for the Metro or tram, and plenty of Amsterdam sights are nearby, including Museumplein and the Rijksmuseum, Museum Van Loon, Rembrandtplein, Munttoren and De Pijp. The Prinsengracht view is lovely, and being inside the canal ring is a real plus. It’s comfortable and fairly spacious by Amsterdam standards, though the price is a bit high and those steep, shallow stairs take some care. For food, we liked the options nearby: De Carrousel for Dutch pancakes, Indrapura for Indonesian rijstafel and Ponte arcari for fresh Italian in a cozy setting. The tram also gets you to Foodhallen and the Jordaan.
