SWEETS - Kortjewantsbrug

We were worried about the heating at first, but there were heaters around the room and we were comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy, including the kitchen and bathroom, and there were some amenities. We had no trouble with privacy since we could close the blinds and windows when needed. The doors were soundproofed, so noise wasn’t a problem, and they thoughtfully left earplugs too. One night there was a thunderstorm; the building felt sturdy, if that’s something you’re concerned about. The view across the Maritime Museum and NEMO Science Museum was breathtaking, with ARCAM Museum right next door. We were there during Lights Festival and enjoyed the light show at Maritime Museum every night. At first we weren’t sure about the location, but everything was walkable, especially Central Station. My husband and I were so happy we stayed here. People from outside kept asking if we were really staying there, which was fun. We’ll definitely come back to try another type of SWEETS Hotel. :-)

The balloons and birthday card were a lovely personal touch. My Dutch wife said this view of her hometown was even more special for Amsterdammers than for tourists. There’s no TV, but with those wonderful 360-degree views, who needs one? Sunset and sunrise were marvelous, and the bridge opening three times was extra entertainment. We stayed for my birthday and have such good memories that we think of it whenever we bike past. We’re still telling friends about it, and I bought the book of the bridge houses too.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was lovely and warm. It’s quirky accommodation, and I’d definitely choose a Bridge House again when I come to Amsterdam. The hop-on hop-off boat stopped right outside, which was handy. It was a bit farther from town than I expected, though I didn’t know Amsterdam’s geography, so that was on me. I ordered the treats box, but there wasn’t anything in it I particularly liked, so I wouldn’t choose it again.

Even though we live in Amsterdam, staying here felt like a real vacation. The suite was just right for the two of us, the view was spectacular, and breakfast came from one of our favorite places. It was an easy, lovely staycation, with several attractions and neighborhoods close by to explore. I’d recommend it to locals and tourists.
