The location was great, but the stay was nowhere near worth the money. We paid 60 pounds for early check-in at 1, then found the rooms in an absolute pig sty, not cleaned at all, and had to wait around another three hours. The coffee machine and fridge didn’t work, wall sockets were hanging off, the bedside light never worked, and communication was useless. We got two towels for a two-day stay and no hand towel, plus only enough shower gel for one shower. They took 60 pounds from the bank for early check-in, then refunded 50 euro in cash left in the room. Try harder, people, it shouldn’t be hard to get two rooms right. The other room had similar problems.

I had a non-refundable booking at Haarleemstraat Suites in Amsterdam for February 21-25, but a medical issue meant I had to cancel. Two days before check-in, I contacted the property, explained what had happened, and asked to move the stay to a later date in April when they had availability. They refused, with no flexibility or understanding, and charged me €604 even though I never stayed there. I understand the non-refundable policy, but many hotels show some goodwill when something unforeseen happens and they’re told in advance. The refusal to compromise felt unfair and unaccommodating. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if fair treatment and customer service matter to you.

The room was small, but enough for two, and having a little balcony was lovely. We had a nice dinner out there. It’s a modern, cosy place in a great spot, about a 10-minute walk from central station. You can hear through the walls. A 4:00 pm check-in felt a bit late, and a 2:00 pm check-out would be great. There are things to improve, but I’m giving the whole experience 5 stars.

The room was clean and nice, with Netflix on the telly and a good-sized bathroom. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back. The little balcony was a grand bonus.

The location was good and the room adequate, up one flight of stairs. Storage in the closets was poor, and neither the internet nor the TV worked. The owner never fixed the problem during our five-night stay or responded. How sad.
