B&B Villa Dalhof

I’m not usually a B&B person, but this one puts plenty of hotels to shame. The house sits beautifully among the trees, and the breakfast was fabulous. Excellent value for money, and well worth a visit.

We’d happily come back for the peace and luxury our hosts gave us, as well as the beautiful surroundings. A week before we arrived, they emailed tips for day trips and nearby restaurants, and there were more flyers and brochures waiting when we got there. The homemade three-course breakfast was a real pleasure, and they took my allergies into account. The rooms are large, lovely, and luxurious, and the historic Villa Dalhof is beautifully maintained. It’s a gem surrounded by nature, with a stunning view. In good weather, you can sit outside or take the little back road to the neighboring winegrower. We were fine with the slight traffic noise in the background.

The breakfasts were a highlight: on each of the three mornings, Edwin and Peter served a different three-course meal, starting with something fresh and fruity, then a savory course, and finishing with a sweet bite. The flavors were balanced and a little surprising. Since the morning was chilly, we ate in the atmospheric breakfast room and felt like Robert and Cora from Downton Abbey. Peter and Edwin welcomed us warmly into their beautiful 1919 home and made us feel at home right away. Our balcony suite was beautifully furnished, with the park all around it, and we slept wonderfully on the Hästens box spring. Staying at Villa Dalhof was absolutely wonderful.

Villa Dalhof makes a great base for walks, cycling, nature, a trip to nearby Nijmegen, and the area's restaurants and cafes. We really enjoyed the tasty breakfast outside on the veranda, looking out over the garden. The garden is beautiful, and inside everything feels lovely and tasteful. Peter and Edwin are warm, hospitable hosts who do a lot to make you comfortable. Our balcony suite was peaceful, and the beds were very comfortable, so we slept wonderfully.
