Hotel Bleecker

We were woken both nights by people walking around upstairs after midnight. The hard floors let the sound carry straight into our room, so rugs or carpet would help. The hotel is advertised as having parking, but there isn’t any. You’re left with paid street parking or trying your luck on side streets, which was a real disappointment. The rooms are large and airy, the neighborhood is lovely and quiet, and check-in was easy and very friendly. It could be a great hotel with a few changes. Reception hours seemed to be 8am to 6pm on weekdays, and nobody was there at 8.45am on Saturday when we had a basic question. Our towels were worn and had holes, and the bathroom lighting was dim and confusing.

The staff were great, and our room was clean, simple, and well presented. The location in Bloemendaal is a handy base for the beach, the national park, Harleem, and even Amsterdam if you want a break from the busyness. The standard room was dark, plain, and looked out onto a side path, though we knew what to expect. I would have liked more comfortable pillows, and breakfast could have been much better.

We ordered breakfast, but the bread and croissant seemed a little old. Since it’s a small hotel, those items may just take longer to turn over. We had an upgrade to the business suite and loved it. There was loads of space, with a separate sitting area and sleeping area. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and longer than average, and the large bathroom had a very deep tub big enough for two, plus a separate rain shower.

We slept well every night and loved coming back to the peaceful family suite after a long day of sightseeing. It was spacious, clean, tastefully furnished, quiet, and backed onto the garden. There’s a full kitchen, washing machine, and a lovely bathroom. Downstairs, the breakfast room is attractive and the food and coffee were great, with excellent service. The village had everything we needed for a charming stay, including restaurants, a bar/cafe practically next door, grocery stores, a bakery, and a train stop a few minutes’ walk away. We ended up at Hotel Bleecker at the last minute after our booking at another apartment fell through. Mignon was fantastic, and the rest of the crew were friendly and helpful too. We didn’t catch everyone’s name, but we’d definitely stay again.
