Surfana Surf Hostel Bloemendaal Campsite

The overall atmosphere was nice, and the site is right beside the beautiful National Park Kennemerland. I was pleasantly surprised that dinner was included, since that wasn’t clear in my booking, and I was upgraded to the Tipi. We had a gale for one night, so I was glad of the upgrade. The Sheddies looked uncomfortable and probably would have been noisier. The price didn’t feel in line with the room or service. I had to sweep a very sandy floor as soon as I arrived. The bins by the Sheddies were full for all two days, so I had to take rubbish to the toilets, and there were no bins in the tents. My lantern wasn’t charged, and I didn’t have the right cable, though luckily I had a head torch in the car. There was no light otherwise. The window wouldn’t open, making the room hot in the daytime, but it also wouldn’t close properly and rattled in the wind at night. The map location on Google didn’t show where reception and the shared areas actually were, which was confusing at first. At dinner, nobody described the food, so the ingredients were a surprise. The breakfast sign said “orange juice,” but I never saw any in the mornings. Three milks were listed, but I had to smell them to tell which was which. More fruit would have been good. I’d also have liked chamomile, ginger, or mint tea in the evenings, as shown in the pictures, instead of only black or green tea. The photos gave me a more luxurious glamping impression than I felt the place delivered.
