Van der Valk Hotel Drachten

My company used to stay here regularly, but after this experience we won't be back. The rooms were just okay, and the prices these days make the whole thing especially hard to justify. Maybe they treat you better if you're not "just" a worker. I was here a few weeks ago for a 10-day work trip and had booked 3 extra rooms for colleagues. Two colleagues stayed 4 nights, and two stayed 10. When two of us checked out, it seemed straightforward. Later, reception called while I was at work to ask which rooms were still occupied. I told them, and she said okay. They had the room cards and names, and only two rooms were empty. When I got back, my keycard didn't work. At reception, I was rudely told they'd cleared out my room because they thought my booking ended that day. They had called me and had my number, but still went through all my personal things, putting some in my luggage and others into bags. It was wildly inappropriate and had never happened to me before. I wasted a lot of time finding and sorting everything again. Some small items were missing, and they took all the bottle deposits belonging to me and my colleagues. Neither the staff nor I could work out what had gone wrong, but they were quick to blame me. I never got an apology or anything like it. I've never been treated more rudely by hotel staff. I tried contacting the hotel directly first and got no reply, so they clearly don't care either. Don't come here, save your nerves and money.
