Apartments "meschermolen" Near Maastricht

The area is lovely and the building is beautiful, but I came away disappointed. The roosters started waking us around 5 a.m., so forget about sleeping in. The breakfast area was quite messy, with part of it under construction, and there was a horrible smell on the stairs. I love animals, but guests should be told when booking that cats and other animals will be around, sometimes sitting on the chairs guests use. I know not everyone likes that, and to me it gave the place a dirty feel and made it seem like customer care was lacking.

Ten years ago, I moved into Meschermolen, a magical old watermill in the southern Dutch province of Limburg that's been turned into a vacation house. Seeing the horses grazing peacefully in the pasture made me think it would be wonderful, and every morning Leeloo, Fritz and Milo greeted me on my way to breakfast. I'm grateful to everyone I met here, especially the owner, Yolanda Lippertz, who made sure every detail was comfortable.

A peaceful, lovely room in a lovely place, and just a few minutes' walk from a terrific restaurant. Perfect.
