My train was cancelled, so at 2 am I was stranded and looking for somewhere to stay. I was really glad to find this place. The staff were so kind, and the room was simple and clean, just right for a solo traveler who needs a bed for the night. Breakfast was good quality and very tasty. The service was really, really good.

The shower and toilet were clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was nice, with a modern TV and remote. There was a fridge in the room for keeping food and drinks for the next day. Downstairs, you can use a coffee machine and microwave, with tables to sit at. The staff were polite and professional. After checking out, we were even allowed to stay and relax. It’s just a short walk from Central Station, about 12 minutes. It was our first time in Eindhoven, and I enjoyed the stay enough to come back to Hotel Benno on future visits.

The room looked much smaller and less equipped than the photos on the hotel’s website suggested, and for the price it felt overpriced. There was a wash basin, one chair, and a tiny bedside table taken up by a lamp, but nowhere to put clothes: no closet, cabinet, or even a wall hook. The shared bathroom was okay, though it could have been cleaner. A large vacuum cleaner was left plugged in in the narrow corridor. I understand staff may have wanted to avoid carrying it up and down, but it seemed like a safety and possibly fire hazard. We came from the Czech Republic for the Duch Design Week last year and booked several weeks ahead on the hotel’s own website. When we arrived, the receptionist said they were full and could only see our reservation starting the next day, even though our confirmation showed the original dates. The hotel’s booking system seemed to be at fault. We expected them to cover that night, or at least the difference in cost for the other hotel they offered, which was very far away and would still cost us more. The receptionist did offer a small discount on our stay, but on our last day a different receptionist knew nothing about it, and we had to persuade him to call her.
