Woonhotel Eindhoven - Hostel

Really good.

The place felt gross, with grime and sticky surfaces everywhere, from the windows to the light switches. The contract promised daily cleaning, but that did not happen. It seemed to get only a brief inspection once a week. My room was already in poor shape when I got it. Around 20 mothballs left a strong smell that took two weeks to fade. The furniture was broken and should have been thrown away, and promises to provide extra furniture and fix the room were ignored. The maintenance problems were all over the building. Paint was peeling from window frames and woodwork, plaster was coming off the walls, and broken light fixtures had not been replaced. The pans were broken or missing handles, other kitchen items were missing, and the microwave's turntable was incomplete, so cooking wasn't really possible. The entrance, rooms, kitchen, toilet and shower all had defects. The bathroom had been advertised as recently renovated, but some tiling was missing. What was called a completed renovation looked more like amateur work by a handyman. There were unreplaced broken lights, peeling paint, and a leak into the kitchen below. The electrical system badly needed attention, with some cover plates missing or so damaged they seemed unsafe. Promises made by the residential hotel weren't kept. When I followed up, they were twisted around and dismissed as untrue. Even the extra room repairs and furniture never materialized. It seemed like the hotel cared about making money but had no interest in maintenance or honoring agreements. The quality was about as low as it could get. Comparing it to a demolition or squat building feels fair. It could hardly be worse. The photos below give a small sense of how bad the residential hotel was.

They make promises, but nothing gets done, even when you offer a suggestion. People smoke all over the place despite the no-smoking rule, and it's never cleaned. It's too expensive for what they provide, and what the lady describes is true.
