Mr. Heijnen made breakfast feel personal, and it was clearly well prepared. The staff were fantastic, and the rooms were fine. The hotel is quite remote if you're not there to play golf. I'd definitely come back.

We had a lovely stay from January 24th to 25th, 2026. The food was delicious and there was nothing we needed. Tea bags were brought to our room quickly when we ran out. Service was excellent, from the warm welcome by a South American staff member to the cheerful, friendly service throughout. The room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful bed. The decor felt a little sparse and formal, haha. A painting, plant, or some flowers would've made it feel warmer. 😊 Best regards, Patricia & Michel Westervoort

The setting is beautiful and wonderfully quiet, but this was one of the worst hotel stays we've had. The room was cold, and its only heat came from an air conditioning unit that barely worked. The bathroom was freezing too, with no heat and a broken blackout curtain. Some of the tiling was unfinished and ungrouted, there was no glass for water, and the coffee machine sat in a dark corner without a light, surrounded by old cups. We had to go outside to the next building to get to our cold room. At the bar, people kept their coats on, and guests were left waiting because nobody was at reception. We heard others complain about the cold and heating that wouldn't work. Tables were left uncleared between guests. The service was friendly but lacking, though breakfast was good. The evening buffet wasn't worth the price. The desserts tasted chemical and seemed supermarket bought, and were very bad. Back in the room, we tried to watch TV together, but the picture and sound froze for a long time every 2 or 3 minutes. A real nightmare.

Last weekend we drove two and a half hours, only to find the hotel door shut because it had gone bankrupt. We hadn't heard anything and had even been able to check in a day early. Nobody contacted us about the bankruptcy, so it was a real shock. Luckily, the wellness reception helped us find another hotel.

We picked this hotel for its quiet location outside the cities, hoping to avoid big New Year's fireworks nearby. We even arrived a day early to avoid checking in on New Year's Eve. The room was large, tidy, and ready, but the promised mulled wine and snacks weren't there. We had to ask and show our reservation. The first night was awful. The room started out freezing, and the noisy heater/air conditioner barely warmed it. Reception said it had lots of settings, but there was no manual, so we tried them all. It took at least 24 hours for the room to become bearable. We had to leave the heater on while sleeping because turning it off made the room unbearably cold, as we found out when we couldn't sleep that first night. The bathroom was freezing too, with no underfloor or towel heating. The shower, at least, was spacious and warmed up quickly. On New Year's Eve, we wanted lunch around 1 p.m. There's little nearby, and driving to Emmen for a sandwich seemed too much. We hadn't been told the kitchen would close to prepare for dinner, even though we'd asked before booking if the restaurant was open all day. After other new arrivals who'd driven over two hours finally got a toasted sandwich, another couple and we managed to order one too. Our room hadn't been cleaned after the first night. When we asked, we were asked whether we wanted a clean or just towels. We only got towels, with no cleaner in the building. The trash wasn't emptied and the coffee wasn't replenished. Apparently cleaning isn't standard. For a 4-star hotel, having no bathroom heat or towel rail is hard to accept, especially if you're supposed to use your towels for another day. A lot of staff seemed to be trying their best, but I've never seen a 4-star hotel run so poorly. Several people didn't get the room they'd booked, and some left or got refunds for inferior rooms. Staff spent ages on the phone trying to sort it out, while the owner wasn't there. Even sitting for a drink in the corner by the bar left you smelling of frying grease. The kitchen extractor isn't adequate, and you notice the greasy smell as soon as you enter the lobby. The dinner menu is limited and expensive. The food was well prepared, but they weren't flexible about dietary requirements. All the complaints, grumbling, and unhappy faces say plenty. It's a real shame: the hotel is beautifully situated on a golf course and the rooms are nice, but without heat that works quietly and proper service, it won't work. There's a lot to improve.
