Hotel De Pergola

I’m still at the hotel as I write this, and there has been no service at all. No one was around to help with anything. The mattresses were very uncomfortable and kept sliding apart. There wasn’t a proper bed, just two mattresses pushed together beside a wall. We came with our 5-month-old baby and were put in an upstairs room in a separate building, reached by dangerous metal stairs. Nobody helped with our bags, stroller, or baby gear. When we called customer support to ask for a different room, they said only more expensive ones were available. There was no baby bed, even though we’d paid extra for one in advance. Then customer service said that if we wanted the baby bed we’d already paid for, we should pay more and fetch it ourselves from the upper floor to move it to the new room. That’s completely unreasonable. This place showed no consideration for families with small children. The facilities felt unsafe, and the service was terrible. Very disappointing, and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially with kids.

You can rent a boat and set off on your tour right in front of the hotel, and the price is great for what you get. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the fan helped during the heat, which reached about 33°C while we were there. Check-in was quick and easy, and there was a handy place to store our bags. Breakfast was simple but satisfying. The 10:30 AM checkout felt a bit early, though. We had a pleasant stay at this charming hotel in the heart of Giethoorn.

We could hear music constantly from inside the room, even with every window and the door shut. It was surprising, especially at 22:46 at night!

The staff were kind, and the place was clean. Self check-in was easy, and there was free parking. Breakfast was great, though we would have found it more convenient if it started before 7:30.
