The location makes it really convenient for anyone visiting Haarlem for the first time. The place was clean and had lots of interesting character. Our host was wonderful, so friendly and helpful, and went out of her way to accommodate us.

We came across this charming little gem on our way to the Grote Markt. A lovely spot for lunch or a snack.
My husband and I stayed for a week in October 2025 in Apartment # 1. It’s described as a one-bedroom apartment in the booking, but it’s really a studio, with the bed in the living area and no separate bedroom. The space was very clean and comfortable, and the old-world charm was stunning. We cooked in the spacious kitchen and loved eating at the dining table by the large street-facing windows. The studio bed is two singles pushed together as a double. We asked for extra blankets, and they arrived promptly. The toilet room is small but efficient. In the shower room there’s a heated towel bar, sink, washing machine, and shower. The shower’s water heater only allowed one quick shower at a tepid temperature, then needed a pause before the next person could shower. At least that meant no wasting water. By contrast, the kitchen’s small water heater got extremely hot, which was handy for washing dishes by hand. There’s also a little outdoor area, just enough for a café table and two chairs, though we didn’t use it because the weather was chilly and damp. Communication before and during the stay was excellent, the address was easy to find, the location was amazing, and check-in was simple with a coded lockbox on the door. The host sent the code before we arrived. Yes, there are stairs. We’re in our late 60s and early 70s and enjoyed the extra steps. Guests share the stairs and hallway with Apartment # 2. We had a nice visit with a couple and their preteen son, but before they arrived a group of young people partied Friday night, running through the hall and down the stairs. You can hear noise from that apartment, though there was absolutely no street noise. Whether your neighbors are considerate is luck of the draw, and it’s no fault of the host. The host provides lots of information for exploring town and nearby areas, as well as books to browse. A large rug by the sofa gave us space for our daily yoga. The stay was very nice, but I’m giving it four stars because of the hot-water limit and the price, which felt very high for such a small studio. The booking calls it a “One-Bedroom Apartment,” but I think it should say “Studio.” It was definitely overpriced for the space. The listing also gives the size as 377 ft.
Fantastic location, and Barbera’s communication was OUTSTANDING!!
The coffee and pastries were delicious. Definitely recommended.
