Hotel Lion d'Or

I’d been a regular at the lounge cafe for years and had spent 1000 euros there as a customer. One day I accidentally took water from my bag, and they told me they’d put me on a block list. I reminded them that I was a regular and felt they could have told me politely that it wasn’t allowed. They then said they weren’t putting me on the list after all, but the whole exchange felt rude. They acted like coming there was a privilege and that customers were just there to pass the time. I won’t go back. If you expect respect, don’t go.

It was great being able to open the window all the way, something you can’t do in the UK, and the aircon worked well too. The view was of a side street, and outside noise wasn’t too loud. The hotel is very close to the station, with a lovely walk to most shops and restaurants. Desk staff were helpful, housekeeping cleaned the room well, and the bar staff were nice. The room was lovely and had a fridge, which was a bonus. My only issue was the “twin” setup. It was really a double bed with separate bedding, and the beds were fixed to the wall so I couldn’t move them apart. I don’t understand how that counts as a twin room. Otherwise, no complaints. I’d definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again.

Breakfast was excellent, and the rooms were comfortable with nice bathrooms. The hotel is right beside the main railway station, but you don’t hear the trains. Very nice place, and I’d definitely like to come back sometime.

A lovely little hotel in a handy spot for a day layover. The staff were attentive and recommended lots of things to do. Very convenient.
