Tulip Inn Heerlen City Centre

There’s no parking, and after two hours in this awful place I left for somewhere more welcoming, even though I’d booked two nights. The room advertised for two was really only big enough for one. It had one light, no table, a broken fridge, and a small bathroom with nowhere to hang a towel. The bathroom fan was noisy and needed cleaning. The amount of dust in it makes me think it hadn’t been cleaned for about 2-3 years. Forget this place.

For the price, the quality is unbeatable. The room was small but clean, with a good shower and a quality bed. It’s close to Heerlen station, so you can catch a train to Maastricht or Aachen. Also, the coffee in the room was great :)

I’m looking forward to breakfast tomorrow. It’s my first time staying here, and it seems like a great stop on a cycling trip in Limburg. They let me keep my bike in the grand hall overnight, which is really handy. The small, simple room was very clean, and I appreciate having coffee and tea facilities. The receptionist was friendly too. I don’t mind the vintage look at all, they could even lean into it more. The picture of two red giraffes in my room is so camp it’s cool, and the grand hall looks just like a 70s dance school! 😄

The lack of airco is the main problem here, especially when it’s hot outside. We arrived a week after the record temperatures of summer 2019, when the outside temperature had dropped by 20°, but the room, particularly the bathroom, was still excruciatingly hot. We could leave the window open overnight to get some cool air. If we’d booked a week earlier, I’m pretty sure I would have left. Otherwise, the hotel is nicely located in a popular part of Heerlen with plenty of pubs and restaurants, and public parking just around the corner. The ground floor and breakfast area are especially nice. Breakfast has plenty of choice for a good start to the day, though the rooms are fairly basic. Our bathroom was nicely decorated. Good hotel for a stay in Heerlen, if the outside temperature stays below 25°C. Review of Tulip Inn Heerlen City Centre, pending review.
