Golden Tulip West Ende

The hotel is close to the town center, the room was clean and well equipped, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was really good too, nicely cooked and presented, and very reasonably priced. We had two evening meals and enjoyed both. The staff are a real asset and made the stay memorable. The reason I gave three stars was the lack of air conditioning in the public areas. We visited in the middle of a heatwave, and the restaurant, bar, and seating areas by reception were unbearable. Portable air conditioning units would make those spaces much better for guests and staff. Without that problem, I’d have given the hotel five stars.

We had a pleasant three-night trip with our best friends. The hotel is nice, the rooms were very nice, and its position by the river is good, with plenty of bars not far away. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Our main disappointment was the food choices. We expected a menu centered on meat and dairy, but there were very few vegan or plant-based options. We’d told the tour company we were all vegan and were assured it wouldn’t be a problem. In the end, we had to make do with fruit and salad, which was okay, but there was nothing hot as a breakfast alternative. They didn’t have soy, oat, or other milk either, so coffee had to be black. Someone asked what we would have liked, and the next morning there were only a few plant-based cheese and pate options. I went to the local supermarket, about 7-8 minutes away, and was surprised by how many plant-based choices they had. If the staff had checked that out before we arrived, it would have made the experience much better, and we’d have appreciated the effort to care about customer satisfaction. That’s the only reason I didn’t give five stars. I know plant-based food isn’t for everyone, but more attention to this smaller market could bring in customers with all kinds of diets. The world is changing, and allergies matter more and more too. Not everyone is the same.

Really helpful staff, clean rooms, and a fantastic breakfast. It’s right in the center, just minutes from a lovely canal walk and not far from the castle. 💕

The rooms are clean and okay, though they could use some work and aren’t quite what I expect from a hotel. The staff, though, are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed four times this past year, each time for a week, and that service is a big reason I keep returning. The location helps too, since it’s the only hotel directly across from the city center.
