Hotel Botticelli

For a small hotel with basic comforts, hotel Botticelli is a decent hidden gem, especially if you're in Maastricht during the busy event season. Its location is the main plus: about 200 meters from Maastricht Vrijthof, where everything happens. That also means you can hear people talking loudly and walking past late at night through the windows. The hotel is a former private home turned into a classic boutique hotel, with two or three levels of wooden stairs and no elevator. Rooms have standard decor that feels like the mid-70s, but they're fine. Downstairs, the main living room is small and cozy, as is the room where breakfast is served. The backyard is dated and could use a refresh to bring back the old English garden style hotel Botticelli seems to evoke.

We needed a room that same day because the hotel around the corner was so filthy we didn't feel safe staying there. The staff here were amazing and really friendly, and found us a room that suited our needs perfectly. The rooms are very clean and the courtyard is beautiful. Such a charming hotel, we'll definitely come back.

The breakfast spread and the whole stay left us very pleased, and we're looking forward to another visit to Hotel Botticelli. Our extra-large bedroom was comfortable, clean and spacious, with big windows overlooking the inner courtyard. Parking was easy to find and inexpensive, and reception made us feel welcome to both the hotel and Maastricht.

We spent three nights here on a city trip to Maastricht. The garden is beautiful and has a relaxed feel, a nice place to sit with a drink. Breakfast was really nice and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is well placed, close to the city centre without being on a busy street.
