easyHotel Rotterdam City Centre

The staff are super nice, and I loved having a soda and snack vending machine in reception. The room wasn’t very soundproof, and a lot of light came in under the door from the hallway. There was also a very small TV and just one power outlet, so you’ll need an extension cord if you want to charge several things at once. For a cheap price, it’s an average hotel.

The reception team really made this a great stay, especially Ismini, the best! The location is super and everything felt clean. Noise carried more than I expected, though.

We were welcomed very warmly, and the staff were kind and flexible. The hotel is also in a very convenient spot, and we enjoyed our stay. The room itself was clean, but its only window couldn't be opened, so there was a bad smell, probably left by earlier guests. With no ventilation, there were also lots of damp and mold marks on the ceiling, which didn't seem healthy.

At 3am, halfway through my stay at easyHotel Rotterdam, I found a live bedbug in the bed. I showed it to a staff member, who took a photo. I crushed it while he was there, and he took the body. They said the hotel was full and didn't offer me another room, so I had nowhere to sleep for the rest of the night. I was told the manager would come in the morning, but I waited in the stairwell for about 15 hours before he arrived. He was antagonistic and unhelpful, and refused my request for a refund for the unused days. EDIT: The hotel's response is outright lying to make its cleanliness and customer service look better. The bedbug, not an “insect” as they call it, was alive when I showed it to the staff member, and I crushed it in front of him. I also had bites all over my body, which suggests there were more in the room. Their claim that I spoke with a manager “the following morning” is false. I waited around 15 hours, until about 17:30, for him to arrive. The hotel did nothing to find me somewhere to sleep from 3am onwards. Being full is no adequate excuse.
