King Kong Hostel

There’s a kitchen guests can use, plus a bar and a quiet indoor spot for working or studying. The location is excellent, the room was clean enough, and the staff were amazing, always attentive and helpful.

Our friend had to cancel after her dad passed away, and even though free cancellation had ended, King Kong agreed not to charge for the eighth person and left the bed empty. That was a really kind gesture. The hostel is in a lively nightlife area, which can be handy, but the street noise was a lot. We were in an eight-bed dorm that wasn’t very clean: stains on the blanket, a really filthy squeegee in the bathroom, and a floor that looked like it hadn’t been swept in a while. The kitchen also had far less equipment than the photos suggested, so we bought paper bowls at the supermarket. It might suit what someone else needs, but it wasn’t good value for us.

Blanca made the hostel feel welcoming from the minute I arrived, with a warm smile and genuine kindness. She was especially helpful when I needed directions, local tips, and a last-minute booking change, handling it all patiently and professionally. Her knowledge of the area and ability to speak several languages made things much easier. She treated guests with care and respect and kept a friendly atmosphere going. Blanca was a real highlight of my stay. Thanks, Blanca.

Bring earplugs. My room was beside the street, and the pub downstairs was incredibly loud. The upper bunk seemed to shake even when I tried to move gently, and the corridor smelled of cigarettes. One older man kept making strange muttering noises. After checking out, I noticed another person doing something similar in the kitchen. I wondered if they might be on drugs. The worst moment was seeing a man taken from the room by several police officers in the middle of the night. I think I heard he was connected to a stolen-phone case. It wasn’t a pleasant stay.
