ibis Styles Amsterdam Airport (new)

For a short family stay, we'd recommend this hotel. The room was spacious, the staff made us feel welcome, and the play area near reception was perfect for small children. Breakfast was a great buffet with a good range of choices. One letdown was the mismatch between the kitchen hours and the times printed on the menu for lunch, bites, and dinner. The menu said you could order from 12:00PM, but the kitchen didn't open until 06:00PM.

The location and shuttle service were great, and the staff were really nice and efficient. Breakfast started a bit later than scheduled, but it was definitely OK. We also enjoyed the restaurant pizzas. The downside was the shower cleaning. There was a lot of mold, and it wasn't the kind that gets stuck on and is hard to remove. There were also marks on the floor that came off easily when rubbed. I suspect it was a mistake, since the hotel had been fully booked for days because of the snow chaos at the airport.

The room was poor and noisy, and the shuttle wait was 30 minutes. Breakfast is hard to describe: one coffee machine for many people, no one cleaning tables, and nobody refilling the empty trays. I also read older visitor reviews with the same feedback. The hotel apologized, but in fact nothing has changed. Worst possible hotel.

The breakfast was pretty good, but the rest was a letdown. The room was spacious but run down, with peeling wallpaper, water damage on the walls, and a stained, dirty bathroom. The restaurant was quiet, yet only two people were working, so we waited at least 45 minutes for two burgers and a pizza. That wasn't ideal with young kids. The burgers were so overcooked they were like cardboard, and came with curly fries that were clearly from the freezer. We paid €23 for a barely edible meal. The shuttle only comes every 40 minutes and takes ages as it goes around three different Ibis hotels. All in all, it didn't feel worth the €150 room price, and I probably wouldn't stay again.
