Mother Goose Hotel

Our favorite part of the room was the lovely decor and open, airy layout. We had a large soaking tub, a treat after long travel days, and appreciated having the toilet in a separate room. Storage was limited, so we used the windowsill for things that didn't fit in the hanging space. We had room for both of our full-size suitcases, though, so the complaint I'd seen about floor space for luggage seemed odd. My wife and I spent four nights in Room 103 at Mother Goose, directly above the restaurants mentioned earlier. It's a fabulous little boutique hotel, more like a stylish private Airbnb than a traditional hotel. The location is brilliant, right in the center, with a street view of the Dom Tower and the lively square below. Restaurants, cafés, and shops are all around, and everything in town, including the train station, is an easy walk. There was no need for buses unless you wanted one. Expect some street noise over a weekend. I'm a light sleeper, so the earplugs provided helped. My wife could sleep through a brass band and didn't hear anything. We didn't hear noise from neighboring rooms above or beside us, which made it feel more peaceful. The staff were lovely, warm, and happy to help with whatever we needed. We'd gladly recommend Room 103 to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Utrecht.

The staff were kind and sweet, and the prices were fair. The location was solid too. But our room, 202, was extremely loud even on a Wednesday night. It has two-pane windows and they provided earplugs, yet I couldn't get to sleep until the restaurant underneath closed at 1 am. I found another review mentioning the same problem in that room. This is the first time I've ever told checkout staff I'd had an unpleasant stay. When they realized which room I was in, they agreed it gets loud. I'm especially disappointed because I'd paid to upgrade to a bigger room to celebrate my ten year anniversary with my partner. I don't understand why they keep renting out such a noisy room.

We had a fantastic stay. Our room was lovely, with a view straight onto the square, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The location worked so well, just a short walk from the sights in the center, and bike rental is available. Highly recommended.

We had a medium-sized room on the Grey Goose Floor, and I loved it. The room was beautiful, the bed super comfortable, and weekend noise wasn't an issue for us. Its layout was a little unusual: the sink and shower stall were in an alcove in the room, while the toilet was tucked into a VERY small closet-like space. I worried the room might get steamy when someone showered, but thankfully it didn't. The A/C and TV both worked perfectly, which is always pleasant to find in this kind of hotel in Europe. The hotel has a small, quaint lobby and a charming feel. It felt like we had our own little place in Utrecht rather than being in a hotel. Mother Goose Hotel is a cozy boutique spot in the heart of the city. You can reach Centraal in ten minutes on foot, the canals in a minute, Dom Tower in six, and the museums in seventeen. It's easy to get around by foot or bike. There was no dresser, the wardrobe was tiny, and there was no fridge in the room, though we could use one in the lobby. The elevator is small but efficient, and VERY appreciated. Carrying luggage up those charming Dutch steps wouldn't have been fun. I wish I had the names of the staff on August 23 & 24, because they were so professional, helpful, and polite, and really made the stay better. The place was spotless. I'd go back, and I plan to.
