Boutique Hotel Scheepers

We stayed for four days in a comfort room with a jacuzzi and rain shower. It was nice and immaculate, and the staff were friendly and very service-minded. You’re close to everything, yet the hotel has the quiet feel of a suburb. The breakfast deserves a special mention: if you can think of it, they have it. We’ll certainly come back and would recommend it to anyone considering a stay.

There’s room for about 15 cars, so you can park and explore Valkenberg on foot from this central spot. The atmosphere was friendly, and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was a standard European spread, served by very nice staff in the breakfast area. The owners were always friendly and great to chat with. I’d recommend the hotel for a weekend.

The service was disappointing for the high rate we paid. We booked a superior room with a spa bath, but the toilet and bath were full of hair when we arrived. They moved us, but the second room wasn’t clean either. We were too tired to complain, and the cleaning standard seemed very low. There were no slippers, and only one shampoo and body wash for two people. At breakfast, staff cleaned the next table quite aggressively while we were eating. The orange juice wasn’t fresh, so we couldn’t drink it. We still had 10 minutes before checkout when a staff member knocked on our door. I’m not sure this is really a four-star hotel.

The room was otherwise nice, but there was mold in it, as shown in the photo. Breakfast was another problem: we arrived at 9:15 and almost everything was gone, including fresh bread, croissants, bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Nothing was replenished except four croissants after we complained, and those disappeared in no time, leaving other guests upset. The location is great and breakfast itself is lovely when available.
