Fletcher Zuiderduin Beachhotel

The location was good and dinner was tasty, but the rooms were dirty and breakfast was very poor.

We had a good stay, though it didn't feel like a luxury experience. Kind service helped make up for the product, and the location did the rest. Breakfast was a pleasure, especially the coffee. The selection was small, but the food was tasty and good quality, and the breakfast staff were attentive and cheerful. The room was big enough and cosy. We also appreciated finding towels on our doorknob while the DND sign was on. The receptionists on 8-10.08.24 were very kind and gave us useful information, thank you! A couple of things to check before booking: the amenities list, since there was no AC or refrigerator. We missed that ourselves. In room #125, there were little specks of mould and grime on the shower tiles. They weren't extensive and may be easy to miss during cleaning, but should be dealt with before they grow into a bigger issue. The bathroom ventilation was absent or undersized and couldn't clear the steam or smell. The English dinner menu differed from the German one. I ordered the Cauliflower steak listed under Fresh from the grill, and got Cauliflower pie from the German menu instead. I had specifically checked beforehand that the steak was available and was told it was. The food tasted good, but I expected what I'd asked about and ordered, and would have appreciated an apology for the mix-up. Apart from that, dinner service was good. I think the mistake may have happened because it was crowded and the staff seemed short-handed at the time.

We booked four nights at Fletcher Zuiderduin Beachhotel through HRS weeks in advance, but when we arrived on the afternoon of May 29, 2025, the rooms were extremely unpleasant, at times disgusting. There's no need to add to the many negative reviews already describing the hotel's problems. I have two questions for the Fletcher Hotel Group management and the on-site managers. If you were responsible on site, took your work seriously, and enjoyed it, would you really trust room cleaning entirely to the staff and assume everything meets four-star standards? Surely you'd inspect regularly and correct problems, especially after guests had reported serious grievances. Would you be willing to pay €324.00 for one night at a four-star hotel for unclean rooms and this level of service, knowing how hard you have to work for your money? The location is beautiful and the staff are lovely, and we enjoyed our stay overall. Still, for a four-star hotel I expected more. There was no air conditioning, which made it basically impossible to fall asleep at night. The walls were so thin that we could hear people talking and slamming their room doors, making it very hard to sleep. The towels were worn, and some sheets had noticeable stains. The room itself was clean.
