Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge

The restaurant alone makes this stay special. The chef turns out wonderful homemade food and desserts, all top quality. The spa is lovely too. The lodge sits above a small ski resort, and I'd pick a cabin over a room for that unbeatable view. A perfect stay.

The food was so good, and the staff were genuinely friendly and understood hospitality. Special mention to the girl at the front desk with the piercing, Alvin, the grayed haired woman, and of course Amy and her owner. We stayed four nights in a cabin and had no complaints. It's a stunning location between the hills, right on a ski slope, and both the place and staff are child friendly. On a clear day you can see the Aurora from your room. This is our favorite place in the Alta region, and we'll definitely be back.

The place, the food, and the atmosphere were all wonderful. Guntova was a sweetheart and a rockstar. The polar night dinner she took us to was unforgettable and delicious. John made our honeymoon feel so special and guided us all week. He was kind, helpful, and knew his stuff. He even took time to get great pictures and videos for us, and let us spend time with his very well behaved dog/son, Gary. We can't say enough about how grateful we are to John and how much he added to our trip. We'll book another visit for our anniversary, and really hope John and Guntova are still there. They make this place stand out.

The northern lights over the open night sky and the peaceful surroundings gave us a memory we'll treasure for a long time. From the beautiful scenery and cozy, picturesque lodging to the kind owners and staff, this place felt like an oasis in the Arctic. We loved the natural, local breakfasts and dinners too. If you're up for an adventure and want to explore the Arctic back trails, don't miss the snowmobile excursion. Bjørnfell Mountain Lodge belongs on a list of top places to stay in Norway.
