Kristina Apartment & Alma House

We only had one night here and had to head out fairly early, which was a shame. The apartment was lovely and had everything we needed for cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Its location worked especially well for us arriving off the ferry at night. Our host seemed to guess exactly who we were and waved us over from a distance. We must have looked like tourists.

It’s close to most things, so the location is handy. The little house feels a bit like a museum, with antiques, old family photos, a clock in the living room, and a very old nonworking phone by the entrance. Rooms are small, and the beds may not suit taller people. The bathroom is shared with the other rooms, though some rooms have ocean views. Fine for a short stay.

The location is a plus, and the place seems to have been renovated fairly recently. But the rooms are tiny and impractical, with almost no storage: for two of us there was just a little bedside cabinet and a chair. The bins were already full when we checked in, and there’s nowhere covered to leave bicycles. There are three toilets and two showers shared between five rooms. The dining area is nice, but cramped if all the guests are there.

We stayed one night on 17 Oct 2022. The house was clean and comfortable, centrally located, and had what we needed for a short visit. The frustrating part came in the morning: when I went to make fresh coffee, I found an old filter left by the previous guest. I ended up setting off on a long drive without coffee.
