Skahjem Gard

We came by train and bus, so it was a relief not to have to carry groceries all the way from Oslo. Reception has a nice selection of local food and other items at reasonable prices. The grounds are lovely, the owners are kind and know the area well, and our apartment was spacious and spotless. The kitchen had everything we needed, from a coffee maker to pots, pans and utensils.

The host was friendly and shared some good tips on local sights. It’s a very quiet rural area, and we had a nice view from the window. The room was clean, with professionally washed and ironed sheets and towels, plus a fridge and some cooking equipment. It was a little small for our family of four, and the IKEA bunk bed squeaked a bit. For the price, though, the stay was really good.

A decent location, with a Spar a few kilometres away and about a 10-minute drive to Fläm. The room was cosy and a good size, with a normal kitchen. It was clean, parking was plentiful, and the wifi worked well.

Skahjem Gard is a converted farm, and staying there gave us a bit of a local feel. Our room was cute and just the right size. There’s a fantastic waterfall you can get close to after a walk of around 10-15 minutes. The owner was sociable and went out of his way to help us. He also stocks local food and ice cream for guests to buy at reception, which you should try. This was one of the highlights of our Norway trip, and I’d happily stay there again near Aurland/Flåm.
