Høyden Apartments

The apartment looks pleasant and is well located, but it isn’t very practical. Using the coffee machine or kettle in the kitchen immediately trips the fuses. We had a serious problem during our stay in apartment no. 3, next to apartment no. 4. The owners rented apartment no. 4 to a brothel, and for all five nights there was constant client traffic, the entrance door slamming, footsteps in the stairwell, vibrations through the wall from nighttime activity, and frequent bathroom use. It came in cycles every 15-20 minutes from 6:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., so we couldn’t rest properly. We also saw three very young women staying there, which concerned us particularly. We formally warned the owners twice, but nothing changed. This seriously affected our stay and fell short of what we expected from a vacation rental.

The location was good, about a 10-minute walk to the town centre. They made good use of the limited space in the apartment, with a washing machine and dishwasher but no dryer. We were in a basement unit, reached by a steep staircase, so I’d hesitate to recommend it to seniors or anyone with mobility issues.

The apartment was really clean and roomy, with two bedrooms and plenty of space throughout. It’s an easy walk to Bergen’s sights, and the train station is about 10 minutes away.

I spent a week here and had a great stay. The grocery store is close by, and you can walk to the main attractions. The main bus station is nearby too, with transport in all directions. I’d definitely recommend it.
