Fossli Hotel

You can see vøringsfossen while having breakfast, which is pretty incredible. The vintage furniture gives the place a lovely feel, and the hospitality was the best I've experienced in Norway so far. It's hard to put the beauty of this place into words. You really have to see it yourself.

I'm often passing through, so I can't comment on the rooms since I haven't stayed overnight. A week ago, the cafeteria wasn't open for the season yet. Today, though, I walked in and got THE BEST WAFFLE EVER ON THIS SIDE OF THE MOON, served hot and smiling at me. The hotel and cafeteria apparently opened Friday 15th of May. Thanks for making my stop between east and west unforgettable.

The view of Vøringsfossen from the hotel is amazing, with beautiful mountains all around, and the dining room is lovely too. This is a historic hotel, opened in 1891, and the receptionist was friendly and answered our questions politely. Breakfast was delicious. Our bathroom was small and had no shower partition. There wasn't a kettle or coffee in the room, though they kindly brought us hot water. I was also bothered by guests smoking right in front of the entrance. They should put the smoking area somewhere else.

The traditional Norwegian breakfast in the beautiful dining room was a treat, and the staff were very friendly. They were happy to answer all our questions about the lodge and the local history. We loved staying in this historic 1890s place right at the edge of Vøringsfossen. The rooms felt a little rustic, but had modern plumbing and the other basics.
