Thon Hotel Saga

The setup was exceptionally clean and organized, and the staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Breakfast was included and delicious, with plenty to choose from: bread, cold cuts, smoked salmon and other fish, eggs, hot and cold drinks, plus a lovely tea selection. The room had a safe and a built-in ironing board and iron, which I thought was perfect. It was spacious too, with a living area, coffee table, sofa and couches, plus a large bed and bunk bed, enough for four people to sleep comfortably. The bathroom was very good, especially the shower. There's no gym in the hotel itself, but they partner with the gym in the building next door, and reception can give you a card to use it. Right in the center of Haugesund. Hotel Saga deserves more than five stars, so I'm giving it ten.

The rooms are functional, and the location is fantastic. Breakfast was awesome, and the team here were so friendly and helpful.

Haugesund's center is right outside, with everything within walking distance. I was on the fifth floor and had a nice view, and the food was delicious. But I woke up three or four times every night because of the noise. I could hear everything the person in the next room said, and there was banging or some other sound all through the evening and night. If you need a quiet night and uninterrupted sleep, I wouldn't recommend it. The hotel is old and really needs better sound insulation.

At least the staff were nice and helpful. Still, I wouldn't recommend this place. The room felt old, and the heat couldn't be turned down, though that was fixed. The fire alarm went off several times when they tried cooking in the kitchen. Cleaning wasn't done as agreed, and when I asked for it, it was delayed. Gym access was supposed to be available, but it was often fully booked and I had to wait. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel I've stayed at anywhere in the world.
