We were comfortable enough in room 21S, and the Henningsvaer Rorbuer website shows its interior accurately. But the exterior photo could make you think the deck faces the water, and ours didn’t. The main view was of the parking lot and nearby cabins, though some of the larger rorbu seem to have better outlooks. The bathroom smell was the worst part: sewage odor could get overpowering, and I understood why the door had been shut when we arrived as soon as I opened it. My wife and I kept showers as short as possible and didn’t leave towels or anything in there to dry because they’d take on the smell. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to most shops and restaurants in Henningsvaer. If we came back, I’d choose somewhere else, though I’d probably stay nearer Leknes for quicker access to the western islands anyway. That’s not Henningsvaer Rorbuer’s fault. The stay was just OK, and I wouldn’t return here.

The woman managing the place was so kind and easy to reach whenever we needed her. We had a lovely stay and they made it a perfect experience. They’ll see me again, absolutely!

I’m already thinking about coming back on my next Norway trip. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, and the location gives you stunning views of Henningsvær. My only little hassle was hauling my bags up to the second-floor room. Everything else was wonderful.

Inside, the rorbuer felt fantastic and really cosy, with amazing views from the windows. There are decent food options and groceries within walking distance too. The cabin had four single beds, though, and no double for couples. The sauna and hot tub are advertised, but you have to book them by 2 pm even though check-in is at 4. They also cost almost 1000 NOK, which felt too steep to me.

Most of the cabins sit right by the water, and ours was at the far end of the village. The two-person one we stayed in was tiny and low enough that I couldn’t stand straight. It had a little kitchen without an oven or microwave, plus a very small bathroom with a shower. The beds are two separate ones up in the loft, where the ceiling is so low you have to crawl in and out.
