The staff were friendly, but that was the one bright spot. The room and hotel felt very dated, the room was cramped, the bathroom even tinier, and its exhaust fan didn't work. There was no fan or AC, no climate control, and no room exhaust. Basic necessities were missing, parking wasn't free for guests, and breakfast had little variety. At 23°C outside, the room was 28°C. We paid 1300 sek for one night and got very little for the money. The name may be Grand, but nothing else felt grand. A very bad experience, and I wouldn't recommend it. There's no value for your money.

Right in the city centre, with shops and restaurants an easy walk away. The hotel is old and dated, but it has some charm and character. Our room was very small, though fine for one night, and the cleanliness was okay but could have used a deeper clean. Breakfast was fresh and very good, even if there wasn't much choice. Staff kept everything replenished.

We had a nice time playing cards in reception, and the beds were good. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly. The location is five stars, very close to the city centre, but the rooms are worn and the hotel really needs a full refurbishment. Breakfast didn't impress us, and it was awkward trying to gesture to the chef about which eggs we wanted since the chef spoke neither Norwegian nor English. We then found out boiled eggs weren't on the menu. The bar closing at 22:00 felt strange, especially on a Saturday when C-19 measures had just been lifted. Sadly, it's not somewhere to relax with a drink after 22:00.

Check-in was easy, and the staff were lovely and happy to help however they could. I stayed here five years ago and gave it two stars, but the hotel has improved a lot since then. The rooms are clean, and the prices now make it good value. I can recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Hønefoss. I didn't try breakfast. Highly recommended!

The room was a good size and had nice interiors, and the kitchen staff member was kind enough to prepare what we asked for. The hotel is old, but it's well maintained. Breakfast was very limited and not so good. You could try staying here if Honefos is your stopover.
