Rica Dyreparken

A perfect location for visiting the park, with reasonable prices, helpful staff, and rooms that are nice and clean.

We went with my wife, our children, and two dogs, and being able to bring the animals was a big help. The food at the hotel was fresh and very good, and the rooms had what we needed to enjoy the park. On hot summer days, though, there’s no air conditioning, so you may not want to stay in the room until the cooler night air arrives. The kids loved the water park, and the patrols handing out sunscreen were a really nice touch. The Captain Sabelton night show was wonderful and had them thrilled. It’s a special experience, especially for children who love animals and Captain Sabeltann.

The zoo is just across the car park, and my room, 303, had the view shown in the photo. I usually stay here when working at Dyreparken. It’s a beautiful, well-themed place, with the zoo right outside the front door. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, and both the evening buffet and breakfast have plenty of food. The staff are outstanding. Many have been here for years and know everything you might need. Rooms are a reasonable size, and the en suites are well fitted. There are coffee and tea facilities in the room. The TV has several Norwegian channels, but many films and series are in English anyway and aren’t dubbed.

I stopped here on the last leg of my road trip across Norway, with the ferry leaving this afternoon. It’s a lovely place to stay, with comfortable rooms and a nice buffet restaurant. The amusement park next door looks like it could be a lot of fun, especially when the kids are on holiday.
