We managed okay, but if we return to the area we'll look for another campsite. It's a very large camp aimed especially at families with kids, and we didn't find it very welcoming. We were camping in a tent, and the toilets were quite far away, which was annoying. They also closed the toilets for three hours in the middle of the day, which seemed weird. The cost felt very high for a medium tent, car, and two showers: 510kr.

We had a wonderful stay as a family with two children and a dog. The apartment was very clean and well equipped, and everyone was friendly. We only stayed two nights, but we'll be back. At Skottevik there are miles of waterline, plus canoes, boats, and lots of other ways to spend your time. You can climb the rocks all along the waterline, too. If you're unsure what to do, ask the two friendly women at reception; they'll surely have advice.

The beach is lovely, and you can borrow canoes and rowing boats for free. The restaurant food was pretty good, and the view was nice. The store was a letdown, with very little for sale. It's a pretty place, though 330kr for a tent feels a bit expensive when showers and the swimming pool cost extra, 30kr each per person per day. Bring life vests for the kids, since renting them costs 30kr per day each.

The staff were friendly and the place was clean. There's a huge supermarket and gas station called Coop about a 20-minute walk away. We stayed two nights. It was expensive, over 60€ per night for a parking place. The free WiFi advertised everywhere had such a weak signal that it didn't work from our spot, B14. The sand beach was only a few metres long, no more than 5 metres for the whole camping place. The signs for the grill spots near the beach were wrong, too. There are no indoor facilities, so if it rains, you're stuck sitting in your caravan, motorhome, or tent with nothing to do.

Restaurant Brygga was the surprise of the stay. I never expected this lovely-looking little place to serve my favourite fish soup, and maybe the best Moules Frites I've ever had. It was so good I went back the next day for more of the same, even though I really wanted to try the fish as well. I've eaten seafood in Lofoten, London, Oslo, Ålesund, Lyon, Monaco, Paris, Marseille, and elsewhere, and this unassuming restaurant is among my favourites. If you're in the Kristiansand area, sneak into this camping site and head to Brygga. The seafood is worth it. The place itself was okay, with indifferent staff, fair housing, and nice enough nature and beaches.
