Skjolden Resort

The view is stunning, and the large balcony is a lovely place to watch the scenery change. Our room was clean and very nice. Making our own beds was fine, though unusual compared with most places. Check-in is all handled through an app, which worked really well, but meant little interaction with staff. I’d recommend staying here.

The waterfall at Drivande was well worth the uphill walk, which took us about 30-40 minutes. Some stretches are steep and slippery, so proper walking shoes are a must. We rode bikes there from the ship, around 40 minutes each way, after hiring two for about £32 each for 3 hrs. Helmets and a lock were supplied. We left the bikes at the top of the stony road, where most people seemed to leave theirs by the white house, though there’s also a car park at the foot of the hike. The scenery around here is some of the most beautiful we’ve seen. We’d travelled on the QM2 with Cunard.

The location is lovely, but the facilities are worn and could use renovation. I was charged for the stay on my credit card 18 months later. Communication was very rude, and they didn’t apologize even though the mistake was theirs. Looking at other reviews, similar issues seem to keep happening. Be cautious.

The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the cabins are nicely furnished. They have most of the facilities someone would need.
