Scandic Seilet

There were so many options at breakfast, and enjoying the food with coffee was a lovely moment. The hotel is right on the coast, so there’s an ocean view, especially during breakfast. The room was spacious enough for three people, but the main bed was too small for two, so we couldn’t relax comfortably. That was disappointing.

There wasn’t a power outlet near the bed, so I couldn’t charge my phone close by while lying in bed. The bar was closed before 0700pm, what? We came from Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, and compared with that place, Seilet Hotel is at best a two-star hotel. The reception also made me feel as if they thought they were better than me. They demanded photo ID before giving me a room, even though I’m a hardcore Norwegian with a valid credit card in my name. Something’s wrong here.

The view was like a dream, and the hotel itself is beautiful and elegant, right next to the Icean River. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. We’ll gladly come back. 10 out of 5 stars! The Radulescu family from Romania

The fjord view toward Molde is gorgeous, and there’s plenty of paid parking around the hotel. I was there during Molde jazz festival week, though, so finding a space was a hassle. I stayed one night in the main building, which looks a bit "modernistic," and got a room in the mizzen annex. Getting from the lobby to the room takes some figuring out. The room was OK, but like other Scandic hotels we visited on this road trip, it was missing small things such as a bathroom mat and a long shoehorn. It feels like they cut costs on details that annoy guests. Service was almost nonexistent, and breakfast was overcrowded and understaffed, so go early to avoid the chaos. The value for money felt low. A mixed stay with plenty of room to improve.
