This is an ordinary hostel in a quiet residential neighborhood, with shared common space and bathrooms. There's a small, affordable market across the street, and it's fine as a place to sleep. The rooms are plain, so don't expect Ritz Carlton quality. I'd choose an AirB&B if you want privacy, or pay more for a proper hotel if comfort matters. If you came to Norway on vacation, you shouldn't have to skimp on a comfortable place to stay. A few practical things: the showers have open floors, so water gets everywhere. The bathroom is for one person. The washing machine may be in the bathroom, so be careful around nearby outlets. There's no refrigerator on the ground floor. A family member experienced local racism and anti-American sentiment from one guest, who was themselves an immigrant. It was an unfortunate incident and doesn't reflect the property or neighborhood. Some local workers, who I think may live on site, were extremely loud during rest hours, though I can't say whether they are residents.

The room was very noisy all night. I could hear someone vomiting, and the soundproofing needs work. There were also very few electrical outlets, and the walls looked neglected. The low price doesn't make up for the bedding: the sheets had black, brown and blood stains, and the supplied towel was dirty too. For a clean, quiet night's sleep, I'd avoid this place and pay a little more.

For such a cheap room, it might do, but it felt like a shabby basement apartment shared with five other rooms, including the bathroom. The thin walls and stained sheets didn't help, and the sparse furniture looked like it came from a flea market. Some people staying there seemed to be permanent residents and had a strange vibe. I'd spend more on a proper hotel or find an Airbnb.

For one basic night in Oslo it was fine, and the low price, friendly service, early check-in and room lock system were positives. A bus stop is close by, and the city center is a short walk away. Still, this isn't really a hotel, as I expected. Sharing the kitchen and bathroom was awkward, and I couldn't tell whether some people were permanent residents. Booking.com could have explained that better. The room and bedding weren't very clean, and the basement was gloomy. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to spend much time indoors.

At a reasonable price, it's an average place that works for a single night. Cleanliness could definitely be better.
