Our room was small, but the bed was so comfortable that it made up for that. We loved the hotel's location and breakfast. During our 40-day Euro trip in Oct & Nov 2025 across 10 cities, we started in Oslo, and this breakfast was the clear winner. Great variety and impeccable quality. Kudos to the F&B team!

I've stayed here four times and will be back this April. It's super central, with warm, friendly staff and one of the best breakfasts. Highly recommended. Tip: book one of the rooms with the fantastic view!

Everything was within walking distance of the main attractions, and I loved my stay. The room was on the small side but manageable for two, and it was so quiet that I slept comfortably. Breakfast had loads of variety, and the staff were excellent. There's no parking at the hotel, so I'd take public transport next time.

Karl Johan Hotel is right on Karl Johans Gate, with the Royal Palace, Opera House, and some beautiful city streets all an easy walk away. After a day travelling, its calm, elegant feel was a welcome place to settle in. The lobby and shared spaces were nicely designed without feeling pretentious, and check-in was smooth and welcoming. Our room was the standout. The bed was the most comfortable we'd had on the trip, soft but supportive, with fresh, high-quality linens that made it hard to get up the next morning. The windows looked onto a charming street and brought in natural light without the noise you'd expect in such a central spot. The bathroom was modern and spotless, and the water pressure was excellent, a small but welcome detail after trains and a lot of walking. For comfort, design, and location in Oslo, Karl Johan Hotel delivered.

The hotel sits on Oslo's main street, so shopping, restaurants, and a stroll are right nearby. We like exploring cities on foot and didn't use public transport. The main sights were a 15-20 minute walk away. Our only gripe was the maze-like route from the elevators to our room. It felt as if we were in another building or a newer section of the hotel. The breakfast buffet had a good range, including gluten-free and lactose-free choices as well as the usual options. The juices weren't freshly squeezed, but there was plenty of fruit and food from other groups, so you won't leave hungry. Staff were friendly, and we'll keep the hotel in mind for our next Oslo trip.
