Absolutely stunning architecture. Even if you don't go inside, take a moment to admire it from outside. There's a little shop inside with souvenirs, and they sell a few stamps too, which I appreciated as a collector.

The roof access gives you a fantastic view over the city and fjord. We came to admire the architecture of this famous landmark, and it's astounding. If you're nearby, it's definitely worth a visit, especially in good weather.
We went to Oslo's main landmark, the Opera House, to see the panoramic view from the rooftop. Go up around sunset if you can, to enjoy the city views and its amazing architecture. We included this viewpoint in our vlog. If you'd like a virtual tour, visit our channel @travelsheesh for the full video.
What I loved most was how simply people enjoyed the place. There was no showing off or performance, just people having a good time. It had that particular Scandinavian kind of magic. Over the weekend the Oslo Opera House felt alive. Families wandered around, people spent time by the sauna and sea baths across the street, and kids ran barefoot inside as if it were their Sunday living room. We even happened upon a small piano performance indoors. People gathered quietly to listen, with no rush or noise, just being there. In November, you can't walk up onto the roof because it gets slippery and is considered unsafe, which was disappointing. Still, the atmosphere made the visit worthwhile, even without that. It's one of the most relaxed and beautiful cultural spaces I've visited.
I visited on a windy, snowy day, and the round walk around the Opera House was absolutely worth it. Snow covered the building and made it look magical. The view across the Oslofjord, Bjørvika waterfront, and city skyline was spectacular. The wind was freezing, but the lights reflecting on the water and snow swirling around made the atmosphere dramatic and beautiful. The architecture is stunning, and you can walk up and around the roof like a huge white marble promenade. Even without going inside for a show, the outdoor walk is a memorable Oslo outing, great for photos and seeing the city from a unique viewpoint.
