Thon Hotel Cecil

The door lock was finicky, and sometimes wouldn’t lock when I was trying to leave. The rest of the stay was quiet, with nice amenities and very helpful, friendly staff. The hotel is made up of two connected buildings, and I stayed in the one above an office complex. Breakfast was fantastic. The lounge overlooking Stortinget was a great place to unwind after a long day. The hotel is right downtown, conveniently situated between the national theater station for the airport train and Stortinget subway station.

The location was unbeatable, and the staff were great. My room was on the seventh floor facing inward, which suited me perfectly because I like a quiet room. Excellent hotel, central but peaceful. I'd happily recommend it.

The room was noisy at night, though I imagine that may be true in other places too. I chose this hotel for my first visit to Oslo because I wasn't sure where to stay, and the location made it easy to walk to the main sights. Rooms were very clean, breakfast was included with lots to choose from, and the staff were friendly. One thing to know: the hotel has two sections, and if you're in the newer one, you need to switch elevators on the second floor.

The room was nice, though nothing out of the ordinary. What made the stay special was the fantastic staff, an outstanding breakfast, and a location that put so much of the city within easy walking distance. Oslo is a wonderful city!
