The staff were lovely and made us feel valued, like guests in their home. I’d recommend choosing a room in the original hotel, though. We knew our superior room was in another building, but its quality didn’t quite live up to the rest of the property. You’re mainly paying for the extra space, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area looked out over the parking lot and ferry, though you can walk over to use the main grounds. The room was fine, but the bathroom felt old. The heated floors were nice, but our shower didn’t drain, so we stood in inches of water, and the hair dryer was broken. For a short stay those weren’t major problems, but they did take away from the experience.

The fjord setting is so peaceful, with some of the most pristine scenery in Norway. The Walaker is a lovely hotel, and the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the waffles and local honey. We had a minor problem with the bathroom in one of our rooms. Owner Ole dealt with it quickly and attentively, which made the stay even more pleasant. I’d highly recommend it for a quiet, beautiful place to stay.

The fjord was stunning, and we had a wonderful stay at the Walaker earlier this month. Julianne was a fantastic hostess, and both the food and hotel were excellent. I’d recommend staying here 110% to anyone considering it.

The four-course dinner at the Walaker Hotell in Solovrn was our favorite meal of a two-week trip around Scandinavia. Booking by email was easy, and the service was impeccable. Every course was exquisite, from the celeriac soup right through to the honey creme brûlée.
