Stamsund Hostel

We went fishing with the kids, and could borrow the boats and tools for free. The owner was kind and helpful, and the place has a lovely community feel. I’d never seen anywhere like it. It was a real life experience for us, and we’d love to come back one day. Thanks for making it happen for us. Best wishes.

I only booked three days at first, but ended up staying three weeks because I just couldn’t make myself leave. My stay went way beyond what I expected. The owners and the mix of staff and guests are what make this hostel stand out. They’re genuinely kind, and the place brings together people who value being open, kind, and part of a community. It’s in a handy central spot in Lofoten, with almost any activity within an hour and a half, often less. The affordable stay also comes with stand-up paddle boards, row boats, fishing rods, swimming access, and WiFi. There’s a luxury sauna, showers that always had hot water, and a washer and dryer too. 11 out of 10.

This was honestly my favourite stop of the three weeks I travelled, even compared with hotels that cost four times as much. I’d stay again for sure if I’m ever back in Lofoten. It’s right by the water, and you can use the SUPs, bikes, and rowing boats for free. There’s a sauna, a big shared kitchen, and a handy shop at the top of the road. The staff were super friendly and easy to communicate with.
